“Agricultural week of South Hesse” is an annual convention, which took place in the Stadthalle of Gernsheim this year. It started on Monday 29th January 2018 and lasted for four days. Spacenus was lucky to contribute as an exhibitor together with other companies like Väderstad from the agricultural sector. Additionally, there were numerous of lectures around the areas of interest of farmers, food producers and consumers focused on crop growing and animal breeding. More information and the schedule of this event you will find here.

It was exciting for the Spacenus family. We had the chance to spread our vision of precision farming. Besides we were able to speak to different stakeholders of the agricultural industry, who gave us very good and constructive feedback. We mainly enjoyed meeting farmers, who could have a look on our current work.

Later in the afternoon of the 29th, Lionel Born, CSO of Spacenus, gave a talk about our ongoing project. He introduced SIITAg as the precise fertilization method of tomorrow. With SIITAg farmers will get to know their current field nutrient status and therefore a fertilization recommendation. The project runs under a development framework of the European Space Agency (ESA). More information here.

The audience was very interested and had many questions after the presentation. We were happy to discuss about our project. At the end of the day that’s all what matters: We want to develop a tool which supports and facilitates farmers in their daily works, adapted to their needs.

The Agricultural week of South Hesse was a great achievement for Spacenus. We gained further knowledge about the regional farmers’ situation and got to extend the idea of SIITAg.
